The Sportline 345 pedometer is a product suitable for use by hikers, runners or walkers looking for a way to track data relevant to their travels. The device clips onto your waistband and keeps a count of the number of steps you've taken. By inputting other data, such as your weight and the length of your stride, the device can also calculate the distance traveled and calories burned. The Sportline 345 pedometer is capable of counting up to 99,999 steps and can measure distances up to 1,000 miles.

Battery

Step 1

Locate the tab labeled "open" near the bottom edge of the pedometer. Use your fingernail or a thin coin to lift the tab upward until the pedometer's cover comes open.

Step 2

Remove the battery protector, if present. Insert the CR2032 battery into the pedometer's battery bay.

Step 3

Close the pedometer's cover. Push down on the cover until it is securely in place

Stride

Step 1

Place a large coin or marker on the ground. Stand several paces behind the coin or marker.

Step 2

Begin running or walking forward, depending on how you plan to use the pedometer. Continue moving in a straight line until you have traveled 10 paces beyond the coin or marker.

Step 3

Place another coin or marker on the ground on the spot where you took your tenth step. Measure the distance between the two markers. Divide the distance by 10 to determine your average stride length.

Setting

Step 1

Press the button labeled "mode" and note the current display setting, which may be either "mile" or "km." If desired, alternate between the different types of measurements by holding down the "reset" button until the display shows the appropriate selection.

Step 2

Press the "mode" button until the display shows the word "dist." Press the "set" button once to enter the setting mode, then press the same button repeatedly to input your stride length measurements. Press the "mode" button to save your settings.

Step 3

Press the "mode" button until the display shows the word "kcal." Press the "set" button once to enter the setting mode, then use the button to input your current weight. Press the "mode" button to save your settings.

Operation

Step 1

Clip the pedometer onto your waistband near the crease of a pant leg or the middle of your upper thigh. Align the upper edge of the pedometer with the upper edge of your waistband.

Step 2

Hold down the "reset" button for approximately 2 seconds. Begin your running or walking workout.

Step 3

Press the "mode" button as soon as you end your run or walk to review collected data, such as distance traveled, calories burned and steps taken. Record this data for future reference.

Step 4

Remove the pedometer and set it aside; the device will shut down automatically when not in use.
