Having cellulite on your thighs can cause embarrassment in the gym, the pool, when it's too warm to wear pants and anytime someone sees your legs. The dimply, bumpy appearance of cellulite is created by the connective tissue that body fat protrudes through. Exercise helps to remove cellulite, build lean muscle tissue and prevent new cellulite from forming.

Step 1

Move your body. Cardio exercise engages the whole body to burn excess fat and eliminate cellulite. Perform at least 30 minutes of cardio activity each day. Alternate two to three different cardio activities each week to avoid boredom and reaching a fitness plateau. Running, swimming, cycling and walking are examples of cardio exercise.

Step 2

Perform six to eight dumbbell squats to tone the front and back of your legs. Hold a weight in each hand while standing with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees to squat downward as if you were sitting into a chair. Go as low as you can or until your legs create a 90-degree angle. Stand back up and repeat.

Step 3

Complete exercise ball curls to strengthen your thighs. Lie on the floor with your legs on the top of an exercise ball. Keep your legs together and place your hands on the floor next to your body. Lift your body off the floor until only your shoulders blades and arms are touching. Slowly roll the ball in toward your body as far as you can, straighten your legs and repeat until you can no longer complete one full repetition.

Step 4

Execute six to eight stiff leg deadlifts. Hold a dumbbell in each hand while standing with your legs slightly wider than hip-width apart. Keep your back straight and slightly bend your knees. Slowly bend at the waist as far as you can, lower the weights toward the ground, stand back up slowly and repeat.

Tips and Warnings

  • Increase the weight you use once you can easily complete eight repetitions.
