Kinoki foot pads claim to remove toxins, heavy metals and parasites from your body through foot pads filled with natural herbal ingredients. The pads are placed on the feet at night and toxins are removed from the body while you are sleeping. There are three main ingredients in Kinoki foot pads; Bamboo Vinegar, Tourmaline and Chitlin. According to Dr. Ed Zimney from everydayhealth.com, Kinoki foot pads have never been scientifically proven or independently evaluated for efficacy, a fact that should be considered before purchasing this product.
Bamboo Vinegar
Bamboo vinegar is one of the main ingredients found in Kinoki Foot Pads. The vinegar is produced by boiling bamboo at high temperatures and condensing the liquid that evaporates. Bamboo vinegar is high in acetic acid, an ingredient found in common white vinegar. Bamboo vinegar is manufactured mostly in Japan, and has been used for hundreds of years to treat skin conditions like eczema and atopic dermatitis. The ingredient is added to Kinoki foot pads to draw out toxins. There is no scientific evidence to support this claim; however, many Japanese herbalists swear by bamboo vinegar for its detoxifying properties. One major complaint about Kinoki foot pads is the smoky odor they produce. This smell is most likely caused by the bamboo vinegar used in the pads.
Tourmaline
Tourmaline is a crystalline mineral that compounds with other elements like magnesium, iron, copper and aluminum. Considered a semi-precious mineral, it is often used in herbal medicine. Japanese herbalists claim that the stone produces negative ions, which help draw out toxins and heavy metals from the body. Tourmaline is also said to have other properties that can increase circulation and strengthen the immune system, but like bamboo vinegar, these effects have not been scientifically evaluated.
Chitin
Chitin is another main ingredient found in Kinoki foot pads. Chitin, a derivative of glucose, is a long chain polymer of sugars linked to each other. Chitin is derived from the shells of crabs and other shellfish. In medicine, Chitin is commonly used to make wound dressings and bandages because it is biodegradable and strong. Chitin can also speed up the healing process in wounds. The Department of Plastic Surgery College of Medicine has proved this scientifically in South Korea, where they hold several patents for bandages and creams made of Chitin. Kinoki foot pads are made from Chitin because of its green properties and its healing abilities.
