Cleaning out the garage can lead to a boatload of discoveries. You may realize you have items you haven't used in a while that could be put to good use by someone else. If you're trying to get rid of perfectly good ski equipment, you can choose among several options to donate them instead of just throwing them in the dump.

Step 1

Contact your local youth center, YMCA or Boys and Girls Club. Many of these types of organizations are always looking for sports equipment that's in decent shape for their participants to use.

Step 2

Head down to your closest sporting goods retailer. Some may want to sell it on clearance, while others may have a program already set up to pass on used equipment to charity.

Step 3

Find a charity in your area related to skiing or sports. Some charities are set up to help the disabled or less fortunate participate in fun sports activities and may be in need of used equipment.

Step 4

Go to your local Goodwill or Salvation Army and drop off your used ski equipment. Someone else can buy it for a discounted price, with the proceeds going to people in need.

Tips and Warnings

  • Make sure your ski equipment is in decent condition before donating.
