Nausea can be caused by many different things, such as extreme motion, bad food or a sickness. Whatever the cause, the result is always the same, a general unease of the stomach which is sometimes accompanied with vomiting. Before you head out to your doctor's office to get some medication for your nausea, there are several different home remedies you can use to help end it.
Syrups
For light nausea, you might be able to use syrup to help settle your stomach. A non-carbonated soft drink syrup or simple sugar syrup has carbohydrates which can help dissipate nausea. Just take 1 to 2 tbsp. for adults (1 to 2 tsp. for children). If you are looking for something without caffeine, try Emerol, an over-the-counter product which will do many of the same things that the syrup will do.
Clear Liquids
Many times, clear liquids such as tea and juices can help with nausea. These drinks help coat the stomach and, in the case of juices, provide vitamins. Make sure that they are room temperature, as extreme heat or cold will actually shock the stomach and make the nausea worse. Another clear drink option is to consume a lemon-lime drink like Sprite or 7-Up. However, make sure it has gone flat, because carbonation can exacerbate stomach issues.
Ginger
Another solution which can be purchased is ginger. Ginger root has been historically known to help cure nausea. You can purchase this in capsule form as fresh ginger is very strong and it will be difficult to eat it in the amount you need to take to cure your stomach.
