Your should be your most glorious asset. If you have been following fashion trends, you might be using semi-permanent color on your hair. In order to achieve a long, straight, shiny mane of hair, you may also be using a flat iron several times a week. As a result, your hair is now brittle and dry; it resembles straw more than hair. To add to the problem, you may also have fine hair, which makes your hair damage look even worse. Fortunately, you can take the situation into your own hands and begin restoring needed moisture to your locks.

Step 1

Warm 2 tbsp. olive oil in the microwave until it is lukewarm--no more than 15 to 20 seconds. Massage the warmed olive oil into your hair, then wrap a hot towel around your head for 30 minutes, according to Home Remedies. Using a moisturizing shampoo, gently wash your hair.

Step 2

Treat your damaged hair to a cream-based deep conditioner twice a week, suggests Style 101. Follow the directions on the container to condition your hair, then wash it gently with a moisturizing shampoo.

Step 3

Brush your hair with a boar bristle brush. The bristles help to distribute your body's natural oils down the shaft of your hair, writes Style 101

Step 4

After shampooing your hair with a moisturizing shampoo, massage the leave-in conditioner into your hair. Let your hair air-dry and style as you usually do.

Step 5

Beat two eggs, then massage them into your hair and scalp. Leave the eggs in for 25 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Shampoo with a moisturizing shampoo.

Step 6

Use either beer or a diluted vinegar solution as a final rinse to add shine to your hair, recommends Home Remedies. Add one cup vinegar or beer to two cups water to make the rinse.

Tips and Warnings

  • Cut back on your use of hot appliances on your hair, such as your hair dryer, curling iron, rollers or flat iron. These do more damage to already-damaged hair. Look for styling products that don't contain alcohol or harsh chemicals. These also contribute to a damaged hair shaft. Stop using clear shampoos. These are shampoos containing no moisturizer. Instead, buy a moisturizing shampoo or a pearlized shampoo, which is formulated to treat damaged and dry hair, according to Style 101.
