Your hair is likely to become dry and damaged due to heat exposure, nutritional deficiencies, chemical treatments and excessive pulling or brushing when styling. Prevent future damage by limiting use of thermal styling tools, like blow dryers and curling irons. Salon Web also recommends that you use no or low ammonia hair color, perm without the use of a neutralizer and never style hair when it is still wet. By using products that put moisture back into the hair, you will improve its look and texture.
Step 1
Shampoo the hair every other day. Skipping a shampoo allows the scalp to produce oils that provide a protective coating to hair strands.
Step 2
Use a conditioner each day. Even on the days you don't shampoo, you should apply a conditioner if you want to repair dry and damage hair quickly. Choose a conditioner manufactured specifically for dry and damaged hair. Apply it in an even layer from your roots to ends. Rinse out with cool water.
Step 3
Blow-dry the hair on a cool setting. Fitness Magazine recommends blasting your roots for a few minutes with cool air from a hair dryer to combat frizziness after you have worked out.
Step 4
Mist the hair with a glossing agent. Salon Web states that a quick fix for dry and damaged hair is to spray it with a glosser that contains silicone oil. It coats the hair for protection and gives dry hair a nice sheen.
Step 5
Work a small amount of mineral oil into the hair before leaving the house. Put a few drops on the palms of your hand. Rub the palms together and work the mineral oil through the hair from the roots to ends.
