NordicTrack is a fitness equipment manufacturer started in 1975 by Edward Pauls in Minnesota. It is one of the world's leading equipment manufacturers, with most products intended for home use. Although the company's initial focus was its ski simulators, it has since branched out into producing a broad line of exercise machinery. These include treadmills, stationary bikes, strength trainers, abdominal exercisers and elliptical machines.

Cross Country Ski Simulation

A Healthy Me, a wellness website run by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, states that cross-country ski machines, such as those manufactured by NordicTrack, are a good choice for getting in shape. Exercising on a ski machine for 30 minutes several days each week will tone your body, improve lung capacity and strengthen your heart, according to the website. Exercises on the machine can be performed with short strides to work the thigh muscles, or long strides to tone the buttocks. The machines also have handles that can be grabbed and pushed or pulled to work the arms in conjunction with leg movements.

Jogging

The University of North Carolina reports that treadmills, such as the ones manufactured by NordicTrack, are some of the easiest cardiovascular exercise machines to begin with. You can start an exercise session on a NordicTrack treadmill by walking slowly and then speeding up until you reach your target heart zone. Interval training can also be performed on a treadmill, such as jogging for several minutes followed by a short burst of sprinting. Most NordicTrack treadmills allow you to program different routines with varying inclinations and speeds, simulating running on hills for a more intense exercise routine.

Stationary Bicycling

NordicTrack manufactures several models of stationary bicycle. Several of their models, such as the C2 SI, incorporate an exercise technology called the iFit Workout Card. According to the NordicTrack website, iFit is comprised of several different cards which are inserted into the machine and automatically adjust the resistance of the machine as you exercise. The voice of a certified personal trainer accompanies each workout. NordicTrack machines also have different presets allowing you to choose from several exercise routines depending on your needs, such as cardiovascular improvement or weight-loss. Manual settings are also available to fine-tune your resistance.
