Throughout many cultures and civilizations, herbs have been used to enhance well being, physical health, and beauty. You can most likely find a selection of bulk herbs, prepackaged tea blends or essential oils in any health food store. From there, you can begin to experiment with different herbal remedies to help grow healthy and strong hair. Tips and Warnings
- According to one study reported in the Herb Companion, this specific blend of essential oils helps accelerate hair growth. The University of Maryland Medical Center claims that rosemary and lavender have been used to stimulate hair growth throughout history. You may also try some of the same herbs in a tea. Buy rosemary and lavender in the bulk herbs section and make an infusion by adding a pinch of each in a tea ball or pot. Pour a cup of boiling water and let steep for 5 to 10 minutes.
- When applying essential oils to your skin or scalp, it is important to use a carrier oil, such as jojoba, almond or apricot oil. This will guard against any irritation. You may also want to test for any possible allergic reactions by applying a small amount of the essential oil mixed with the carrier oil onto your skin. Do not touch the lids of the essential oil bottles, as you want to keep them free from germs.
