BMX ramps are designed to help BMX riders get the air needed to perform flips, grabs and other in-air tricks. As a result, there are many different types of BMX ramps that you can build and combine to achieve big air. In addition, these jumps and ramps can be customized and combined to create massive jumps that naturally flow into each other.

Halfpipe Into Quarterpipe

With your halfpipe stationary, move a portable quarterpipe to the back side of your halfpipe. Make sure that the quarterpipe is flush with your half pipe. Steady your quarterpipe with either weights or sandbags at the base of the ramp. Once both ramps are in position, it is possible for you to perform numerous transition tricks from your quarterpipe to halfpipe and vice versa. Combining your halfpipe with your quarterpipe will allow you to increase your initial speed by giving you a proper jumping-off point.

Jump Box Rail Addition

This idea for a jump box rail will allow you to perform grinds on the top of your jump box. At the top of your jump box, install a thick rail that will run the length of the jump box. Although you can choose any height for your rail, it is best to install it at a height of two feet or less. This will allow you to perform regular tricks on your jump box without the grind rail getting in the way. After you have properly installed the rail, you can perform numerous grinds and tricks with the help of your front and back pegs.

Basic BMX Ramp Idea

Start by constructing a spine ramp in your backyard. While you can purchase a spine ramp that is pre-made, customizing your own spine ramp will allow you to tailor it to your specific strengths and weaknesses. A spine ramp is perfect for a small backyard because it does not take up a lot of room and does not propel you into dangerously high speeds. According to OC Ramps, it is important to apply a skatepaint coating to any wood ramp. This coat will improve the life of your ramp by sealing and waterproofing it.
