Facial steaming offers a wide array of benefits including opening up pores, expunging excess dirt, oil, toxins and other impurities, increasing circulation and decreasing stress, according to the Daily Glow. It is an essential part of an anti-aging and acne fighting regimen. You can steam your face at home using a pot of boiling water, a closed off sink drain or a professional facial steamer.
Step 1
Fill your sink with hot water or boil water in a pot. If you use a professional steamer, fill the reservoir with water. If you choose, add essential oils such as peppermint or lavender to the water.
Step 2
Set your timer for 10 minutes once the water has come to a steam.
Step 3
Drape a bath towel over your head and lean your face into the steam. Keep a dry washcloth nearby so you can wipe the sweat from your face periodically.
Step 4
Splash your face with cool water once the 10 minutes are up. Wash the sweat, dirt and oil off your skin with a gentle cleanser and follow with a facial toner.
Step 5
Use facial steaming at least every other day as part of your skin clarification regimen.
