If your facial beauty routine consists of a cleanser followed by a moisturizer, you're missing an important step in preserving your skin's vitality, smoothness and elasticity. Although you can purchase numerous brands of facial toners online or from department, grocery or drug stores, you can also use vinegar as the base for numerous at-home facial toners. However, although homemade vinegar facial toners use mainly natural ingredients, they may not be suitable for your skin. Therefore, discontinue using any vinegar-based facial toner if you experience skin irritation, and see your doctor if the symptoms persist for more than a few days.
Aspirin-Cider Vinegar Toner
Step 1
Pour about 4 oz. of water out of a 12 oz. bottle of filtered or mineral water.
Step 2
Use the back of a spoon to crush 10 aspirin tablets.
Step 3
Dissolve the aspirin powder in the water in the bottle, and tightly secure the lid on the bottle.
Step 4
Shake the bottle vigorously until all of the aspirin powder disintegrates into the water.
Step 5
Pour 1 oz. of organic apple cider vinegar into the bottle and shake the bottle until all of the ingredients are evenly distributed. The bottle will be cloudy and amber-colored.
Step 6
Wash face as usual and apply the aspirin-cider vinegar toner to your face with a clean washcloth, cotton balls or cotton pads.
Step 7
Refrigerate leftover toner in airtight glass or plastic container for up to two weeks.
Fruit and Vinegar Toner
Step 1
Peel and seed one ripe papaya, and then cut into 1/2-inch pieces.
Step 2
Place papaya pieces in blender or food processor and process until the papaya liquefies. If the papaya does not completely liquefy, press the pulp into a piece of cheesecloth over a small bowl to remove the juice from the pulp.
Step 3
Mix the papaya with 4 to 6 tsp. organic apple cider vinegar to complete the fruit and vinegar toner.
Step 4
Apply the toner to clean skin and let face air dry.
Exhilarating Toner
Step 1
Use a mortar and pestle or the back of a spoon to macerate seven to 10 fresh mint leaves, and set aside.
Step 2
Mix 1/2 cup witch hazel with 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar.
Step 3
Add mint leaves to the mixture and stir thoroughly.
Step 4
Apply this exhilarating toner to face with cotton balls or cotton pads, let sit for three to five minutes and splash off with cool water.
Step 5
Store extra toner in airtight container in your refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Refreshing Toner
Step 1
Juice one cucumber in a fruit and vegetable juicer. If you do not have a juicer, puree the peeled cucumber in a blender, then strain the pulp through a piece of cheesecloth over a bowl and reserve the cucumber juice.
Step 2
Mix the cucumber juice with 4 tbsp. apple cider vinegar and stir thoroughly.
Step 3
Apply the refreshing toner to your face with a clean, dry washcloth and let your face air dry.
Step 4
Refrigerate unused toner for up to two weeks.
