Losing weight from your midsection does not have to be a nightmare. There's a way to get a tight tummy fast, but it takes a combination of exercise and nutrition to get there. Staying dedicated and motivated to your cause of losing your love handles and extra tummy jiggle will be the most important piece of the puzzle in your "lose the gut" mission.

Step 1

Change your diet. Ditch empty calories such as junk food and snack foods that offer no nutritional benefits and only offer a sugary taste in your mouth. Instead, fill your stomach with fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains in combination with watching your portion sizes.

Step 2

Drink the good stuff. Get rid of the drinks that will keep the blubber on your midsection such as soda and alcohol. These types of drinks contain calories that can be easily eliminated from your diet. According to the USDA, orange juice drinks and soda both contain more than 120 calories and over more than 25 grams of sugar per can. Try drinking water to promote weight loss and hydrate the body. The Mayo Clinic recommends drinking two liters of water a day, which is a little more than 8 cups a day.

Step 3

Get moving. Moving more will help to burn more calories. Train by doing cardio. This kind of training will help to burn fat off your gut and trim your waistline. Try running, taking a class at the gym or even power-walking to melt off the fat and leave it for someone else to gain.

Step 4

Use your core. Core training will also help to draw the stomach in for a trimmer waistline. Try exercises that stabilize your core like a plank. Begin in a push-up position and drop to your elbows. Pull your stomach in tight and hold the position for 30 seconds to build strength.
