The colon is a pivotal component of the digestive system. Its importance in the removal of accumulated feces from the human body is paramount. Unfortunately, without adequate provision being made through suitable diet and general health consciousness, the colons functioning will become impaired. Over time, this neglect may deteriorate from tolerable side-effects to critical issues with internal health. It is not however a major ordeal to take care of this vital element of your well-being. Following a series of simple and non-invasive steps on a daily basis will lead to the complete flushing of waste matter from the colon.
Step 1
Drink a lot of water. Purified water, either through using a filter jug or purchasing top quality bottled water, is preferable over regular tap water. The extra water will provide significant assistance in successfully removing waste from the colon. The National Digestive Diseases Information Clearing House confirms "liquids add fluid to the colon and bulk to stools, making bowel movements softer and easier to pass."
Step 2
Eat a diet rich in high fiber foods. Brown bread-especially the loaves that are enriched with sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and flax seeds-will provide the roughage required to efficiently clear out your digestive system. Certain breakfast cereals are also fiber rich, but certainly not all of them. Make clear comparisons between the contents of a selection of products before you purchase.
Step 3
Avoid excessively substantial food items. A large intake of dairy items-such as milk, cheese and cream-can lead to constipation due to their high calcium content. The University of Washington points out that "some patients find that calcium makes them constipated." Keeping such foods to a minimum will definitely assist in the efficient cleansing of your colon.
Step 4
Take a top quality multi-vitamin and mineral supplement. It is difficult to obtain all the nutrition that we require on a daily basis through a standard diet of cooked and heavily processed food. Continued use of a carefully chosen nutritional supplement will provide the body with many of the components that are required for optimum health of the colon and digestive system as a whole.
Step 5
Go to the bathroom regularly. You may not necessarily feel that it is the right time to remove feces, but it is important to keep things as consistent as you possibly can. If you are not experiencing at least one decent bowel movement each day, this is generally abnormal and you should intensify your usage of the aforementioned steps to the extent necessary for the desired outcome to be reached.
