New moms face the challenge of adjusting to a newborn, running on little sleep and trying to keep the household running. New moms often forget to take care of themselves amid all of the diaper changes and late-night feedings. A homemade coupon book for the new mom offers her an easy way to ask for help and get some time alone. The coupon book allows you to customize the coupons with things such as a home-cooked meal, a free night of babysitting and a night out with the girls.
Step 1
Write a list of the coupons you want to include. Consider what needs the new mom has, such as breaks from her baby, cleaning, cooking or time with her friends. Choose ideas for the coupons that you can easily accommodate for the new mom.
Step 2
Type out each coupon using a word processing program. Print the coupons onto card stock. Cut around each coupon using decorative edged scissors.
Step 3
Cut rectangles of scrapbook paper slightly larger than the coupons to make a decorative border. Glue the coupon to the middle of a piece of scrapbook paper. Repeat with all of the coupons.
Step 4
Cut a cover and back for the coupon book from card stock. Decorate the cover with stickers, ribbon and other scrapbook embellishments.
Step 5
Stack the coupons, cover and back for the coupon book. Punch two or three holes along the top edge using a paper punch.
Step 6
Place decorative paper fasteners through each hole to hold the coupons together. Another option is to tie the coupons together with lengths of ribbon.
