Age spots appear as small brown spots on the skin that can range in size from a freckle to a large patch of discoloration. They are caused by overexposure to the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays and occur more frequently in older people. The damage is normally permanent, however, there are a few cosmetic procedures and home remedies that can help fade the discoloration. Before seeking out more costly cosmetic procedures, try these natural remedies at home.

Step 1

Rub slices of fresh lemon slices on discolored areas. Allow the lemon juice to soak into the skin before rinsing. Repeat twice daily until age spots disappear.

Step 2

Apply fresh papaya to the skin wherever you have age spots. Allow the papaya juice to absorb into the skin before rinsing. Repeat twice daily until desired results are achieved.

Step 3

Cut slices of cucumbers and rub the juice onto your age spots. Allow the juice to soak into the skin and only rinse if needed. Apply twice a day until age spots have faded.

Step 4

Buy natural, concentrated vitamin E oil at your local health foods store. Apply it to your age spots twice daily for two months. Do not rinse. If you cannot find vitamin E oil, you can buy vitamin E capsules, break them open, and then apply the oil from inside.
