More than 25 million Americans develop gall bladder problems; however, only 1 to 3 percent develop symptoms severe enough to warrant complaints, notes the University of Maryland Medical Center. The gall bladder is the organ under the liver that stores bile. The gall bladder releases bile during digestion via the common bile duct, a passage connecting the gall bladder with the liver and the small intestines, notes the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Biliary Colic

One of the most common signs of gall bladder disease is biliary colic, notes the University of Maryland Medical Center. Biliary colic is usually localized in the middle or right section of the upper abdomen. The pain gradually grows in both scope and intensity. Biliary colic is usually triggered by the consumption of fatty food.

Fever with Rigor

Gall bladder disease may often cause fever and chills to develop. However this symptom typically only occurs in one out of three patients with gall bladder disease, explains the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Excess Flatulence

Gall bladder disease can cause gas problems, notes the University of Maryland Medical Center. This gas problem often manifests after meals, especially after meals composed of fatty food, according to MayoClinic.com.

Inflamed Gall Bladder

A distinct symptom of gall bladder disease is the inflammation of the gall bladder, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. The inflammation is caused by gall stones that may block the passage connecting the gall bladder, liver and small intestines known as the common bile duct. The inflammation is affected by the intake of food, notes MayoClinic.com. If the inflammation and gall stones are left untreated, the gall bladder may become scarred and hardened.

Nausea

Gall bladder disease causes nausea and may even induce vomiting after meals, notes MayoClinic.com. It must be noted, however, that nausea is not a symptom specific to gall bladder disease and cannot be used to diagnose gall bladder disease conclusively.

Pain in the Upper Right Abdominal Area

Pain in the upper right abdominal area is a symptom of gall bladder disease. The pain is constant, intense, and can last hours or even days if not given proper medical treatment, notes MayoClinic.com. The rest of the abdomen is also tender.

Chronic Diarrhea

Gall bladder disease can also cause persistent loose bowel movement. This symptom often causes defecation of up to 10 times a day for a period of at least three months, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.
