According to the Active Naturals Institute, oatmeal contains the antioxidants avenathramides, which are effective in reducing redness and protecting the skin against UV sun damage. Oatmeal has also long been used to treat dry skin and itching associated with conditions such as eczema and rashes. Adding a bit of oatmeal to your daily facial regimen may be of benefit to you even if you simply want to naturally exfoliate your face.
Face Wash
Step 1
Prepare a bowl or bucket with cool water. You don't want to use an oatmeal wash over a sink because the oatmeal can clog up the drain. Dampen your face with water.
Step 2
Mix 2 teaspoons of dry oatmeal with enough milk to fully dampen the oatmeal, about a fourth of a cup. Apply to your face and gently rub the mixture over your skin to exfoliate.
Step 3
Rinse with cool water from your bowl or bucket, being sure to catch the oatmeal. Discard the used oatmeal in the trash.
