How to Style Extremely Frizzy Hair

Frizzy hair can be difficult to control. You leave the house in the morning looking great, but a sudden downpour or even a humid afternoon, and your hair goes out of control. Frizzy hair is a challenge, but properly moisturized and styled, it can look terrific. If you find that you are having more bad hair days than good ones, consult with your stylist about changing hairstyles.

Step 1

Wash with products designed for dry hair. Moisturizing shampoos not only add much-needed moisture, but also add weight to the hair that will help keep it under control.

Step 2

Use a rich conditioner. Give the conditioner time to soak in before rinsing briefly with cold water. The cold water will leave some of the conditioner behind and help seal the hair shaft, keeping your hair smooth.

Step 3

Squeeze your hair dry with an old tee shirt, rather than rubbing it roughly with a towel.

Step 4

Comb through your hair with a wide-tooth comb or hair pick. A brush will lead to tangles and frizz.

Step 5

When possible, allow your hair to air dry. If you must use a blow-dryer, use a diffuser, moving your hair around with your fingers, not a brush.

Step 6

Add pomade or shine product to hair to seal out humidity, which leads to frizz.

Step 7

Once your hair is styled, keep your hands out of it. The more you handle it, the more likely it is to develop frizz.

Tips and Warnings
