The décolleté is the area between the collar bones and the tops of the breasts. It is often one of the first areas in women to show aging. The primary cause of wrinkles in this area involves the way women sleep. If you are prone to sleeping on your side, your breasts will fall together and form lines and creases between the breasts and up into the décolleté area. These wrinkles eventually become a permanent fixture if not remedied. Take steps to reduce these wrinkles and prevent future ones from occurring.

Step 1

Perform exercises that work your chest and back muscles on a regular basis. This will keep the area firmer and help prevent as much sagging together of the breasts.

Step 2

Clean the neck and chest area every morning and evening. Do not use bath soap, but choose a gentle preparation such as the one you use for your face. When you dry the skin, don't rub or tug at the skin. Blot dry with a soft, absorbent towel or cloth.

Step 3

Slather on a neck and décolleté moisturizer after cleansing. Beneficial ingredients include Vitamin C or Ester C, ALA and idebenone. Vitamin C and ester C help remove dead skin cells, restoring a smoother surface. Alpha lipoic acid, ALA, works as an antioxidant as well as an anti-inflammatory. ALA can help with prevention and treatment damaged of skin damaged by the sun's rays. Idebenone is similar to the antioxidant Coenzyme Q10. It is a very powerful antioxidant, protecting cells from deterioration. A 2005 study from the "Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology" showed that use of a topical idebenone preparation on sun-damaged skin significantly reduced dryness and wrinkles and improved hydration and overall appearance.

Step 4

Scrub twice per week with a gentle exfoliator. Search for preparations which include natural exfoliating enzymes. Two good choices include the enzymes found in papayas or bromelain, which is found in pineapples. The décolleté area is very delicate and thin-skinned, so harsh scrubs should be avoided.

Step 5

Cover the entire décolleté area with a copious amount of sunscreen before going outside. Each year, the Environmental Working Group publishes a list of sunscreens that offer protection against UV rays but do not contain toxic chemicals. Check to see if your sunscreen is included on their list.

Step 6

Train yourself to sleep on your back rather than on your side. You may want to place pillows or other objects strategically to keep you from turning after you fall asleep. As an additional step, you could wear a bra or stretching undershirt to keep your breasts more separated.

Step 7

Consider having botox treatment to the décolleté area. The results of botox treatment are not permanent, but a 2002 German study did find that it reduces wrinkles in the décolleté area for a period of weeks or even months.
