Finding something for the kids to do that is fun, exciting and healthy within a reasonable budget during the summer seems impossible at times. Chicago offers several interactive activities to keep the kids active and entertained while helping them use their imaginations to explore the world from a new perspective.
Fantasy Kingdom
Fantasy Kingdom is a great place to take your children who are ages 6 months through 6 years for active, role-playing adventure. Fantasy Kingdom offers children the chance to become a prince, princess or commoner though props and costumes. There are several play areas including a castle featuring a slide and a village complete with a market and fire station. Small babies and toddlers have a separate play area that includes toys just for them. Fantasy Kingdom offers private parties all year long. According to ChicagoKids website, admission price is $12 per child, and siblings under 1 year old are free.
Kid City
Kid City is a pretend city just for kids up to the age of 10. This is a great place for the kids to move away from sedentary play and get up and run around. The facility offers a grocery store, post office, cars and many other adventures tailored especially for children. The facility is open Tuesday through Friday for general admission, while weekends are reserved for private parties. Kid City promises a unique birthday experience for your child through their full-service party-planning department. Kid City offers many of their own themes or you can customize your own theme. According to ChicagoKids website, the cost for entry is $12 for the first child and $8 for each additional child.
My Corner Playroom
This is an indoor play area for children age 5 and under. The playroom comes equipped with slides, train and Lego tables, a miniature kitchen and costumes for dress up. There are classes for arts, crafts and music in the mornings. My Corner Playroom offers private birthday parties on the weekends. They offer a half-day summer camp for kids between the ages of 2 and 5. According to My Corner Playhouse's website, a one-day pass is $15 for the first child and $10 for each additional sibling.
Chicago Children's Museum
Located inside the family pavilion on Navy Pier, Chicago Children's Museum offers a variety of interactive activities for kids. They feature a number of permanent exhibits such as the Allstate Foundation's Play It Safe fire safety center. This exhibit is a model firehouse with a fire pole, command center and fire truck. These exhibits promote healthy living and an appreciation for nature, such as in BIG Backyard, a garden built on a huge scale. It includes giant insects, flowers and toadstools. The museum features many special and seasonal exhibits and activities. According the Chicago Children Museum's website, the price of admission is $10 a person and children under 1 are free.
Pump It Up Chicago
Summer days and weekends are filled with pent-up energy to burn. Pump It Up Chicago play center offers inflatable play areas where children can jump, run and crawl, getting their needed exercise. Included are bounce houses, inflatable obstacle courses and slides. Pump It Up offers full-service party planning to take the hassle out of birthday preparation. According to ChicagoKids website, Pump It Up's cost for admission is $10 for 90 minutes of play.
