Neck jowls are often a result of excess fat depositing in the neck region, poor muscle tone and sagging skin. Facial exercises may help strengthen and tone the muscles at the front of your neck to get rid of neck jowls, but aerobic exercise is necessary to eliminate excess fat that may cause neck jowls. You should speak with a doctor before deciding if facial exercises for neck jowls are right for you.
Pucker
The muscle tone in the chin has a lot to do with skin sag. Without muscle mass to hold your chin up, your chin can droop, contributing to neck jowls. This exercise uses both your chin and neck muscles, strengthening and toning the muscles to eliminate neck jowls. Sit up straight on a chair and tilt your chin up so you are looking at the ceiling. Close your lips and keep them relaxed. Pucker your lips, stretching them out as if you are trying to kiss the ceiling. Hold this position for 10 seconds, then relax and return your head to the starting position. Repeat five times, daily.
Lips
This exercise is similar to the previous one, using your lips and the muscles in your chin to hold the skin of your neck taut. Sit up straight and lift your head so you are looking at the ceiling. Relax your lips, but keep them closed. Now, push your lower lip out as far as you can and bring it over the top of your upper lip. Hold this position for five seconds. Relax and repeat five times every day.
Jaw
Keeping the muscles of your jaw strengthened may help eliminate neck jowls by keeping the skin tight and the attaching muscle toned. This exercise also works the muscles at the front of the neck to get rid of neck jowls. Stand straight with your shoulders held back and your chin tilted up so you are looking up at the ceiling. Close your mouth, but keep your lips relaxed. Move your jaw as if you are chewing. Keep moving in a circular, chewing motion 20 times. Pause, then repeat the chewing motion in the opposite direction. You should be able to feel the tensing and relaxing of your neck muscles. Perform this exercise once daily.
Platysma
The platysma muscle is the long, rope-like muscle located at the front of your neck. This exercise works this muscle, toning your neck and eliminating jowls. Lie on your bed facing the ceiling, with your head and neck positioned off the edge of the bed. Keep your back and legs firmly on the bed and flex your neck muscles, lifting your head up toward your torso. Hold this position for 10 seconds. Repeat five times, three times a week.
