How to Make a Deep Conditioner for Your Extremely Frizzy Hair

According to "Hair and Hair Care," one of the best ways to manage frizzy hair is to apply a deep conditioning treatment to it once per week. A variety of deep conditioning treatments are available at the salon and beauty supply store, but you can make a deep conditioner that will reduce the frizz and make your hair more manageable and appear healthier and shinier with only a few minutes of time and a few household ingredients and supplies.

Step 1

Peel an avocado and cut it into chunks. Place the avocado chunks in the blender but do not blend them yet. According to "The Science of Hair Care," avocados contain amino acids that help condition hair.

Step 2

Add 1 cup mayonnaise and 1/2 cup coconut milk to the avocado. According to "Hair Care: An Illustrated Dermatologic Handbook," mayonnaise and coconut milk both contain hydrating properties that add moisture to hair.

Step 3

Cover the blender and turn it on the "chop" setting for 30 seconds. Then, turn it on the "puree" setting for 45 seconds. Pour the mixture into a bowl.

Step 4

Massage the mixture into your hair, starting at the roots and working your way to the tips. Don a shower cap. Ensure all of your hair is tucked into the shower cap.

If your hair is long, you may need to pile it on top of your head to make it fit inside the shower cap. According to "The Science of Hair Care," wearing a shower cap stops your head's heat from escaping. The added heat improves the effectiveness of the conditioner.

Step 5

Allow the mixture to rest on your hair for at least 30 minutes, which according to "Hair and Hair Care," is the minimum amount of time required for this deep conditioner to effectively treat frizzy hair.

Step 6

Rinse the conditioner from your hair and shampoo as you usually do. After rinsing out the shampoo, rinse your hair with cool water, which according to "The Science of Hair Care," helps the hair's cuticles to constrict, thereby reducing frizz.
