Trampoline pads cover the frame, reducing the risk of injury due to falling into or through the railings and springs, according to Trampoline Safety.com . The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says you can prevent serious trampoline injuries by ensuring that the pads completely cover the springs, hooks and frames. Vinyl trampoline pads can dry out with exposure to the elements, causing them to crack. Moisture that invades through the cracks causes the interior foam to rot, and the pads to become ineffective. As of 2010, the cost of a replacement pad ranged from $59 to $325 depending on size, shape and type of pad.

Step 1

Spray the trampoline pads with a vinyl protector that includes UV protection. Wipe away any excess with a soft cloth, and allow the pads to dry.

Step 2

Disassemble and store the trampoline in the winter. Ice, snow and extreme temperatures can cause the pads to dry out and crack.

Step 3

Anchor the trampoline to the ground, and cover it during any inclement weather to protect the pads.

Tips and Warnings

  • Inspect the pad for damage before each use. Replace damaged pads before allowing jumpers on the trampoline.
