You can get a flat stomach without taking any pills. Diet pills are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration, and therefore, they can be a risk to your health. Instead, focus on eating healthy foods and getting plenty of exercise. Avoiding processed and refined food can help burn belly fat, and certain foods will help fight belly fat storage. Finding the right combination of foods and exercises will help you reach your goals.

Count Calories

While it may seem daunting, spend three days counting calories before you make any changes. This will give you an idea of how many calories you are currently eating. Then, change your plan so that you are eating smaller meals more frequently. This can help keep your metabolism up. Females should plan to eat around 400 calories, four times a day. Men can eat the same size meals five times a day. This will ensure that your body is getting enough nutrition and that you are not hungry throughout the day.

Eating Healthy Fats

An essential part of all flat-belly diets includes eating monounsaturated fatty acids with each meal. These are healthy fats that promote weight loss because they keep you feeling fuller for a longer period of time. This inhibits dieters from eating too many calories. These fats are commonly referred to as MUFAS. These are found in foods such as olive oil, avocado, almonds and peanut butter.

Designing Your Meals

Meals should consist of lean protein, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and a MUFA (monounsaturated fatty acids) source. Make sure to never go more than four hours without eating. This causes your body to become hungry and can slow your metabolism down to save energy. You want to et frequently to keep your body energized throughout the day.

Avoid Bloat-Causing Foods

When beginning the diet, spend four days preparing your body for your new diet. There are some foods that cause the stomach to become bloated or puffy. They can also make you feel uncomfortable. On a flat-belly diet, you need to avoid these foods. The list of foods to avoid includes artifical sweeteners. fried food, refined carbohydrates such as bagels, salt, alcohol, coffee, tea and carbonated drinks.

Exercise

Getting exercise will help you boost your weight loss. Look into a variety of exercise, such as cardiovascular exercise, strength training and yoga. Cardio will help you lose weight, improve endurance and train your heart and lungs. Strength training can help improve metabolism, balance and muscle tone. It also helps to prevent bone loss as you age. Yoga is a wonderful activity to unwind and improve flexibility. Whatever exercise you choose, the American Heart Association recommends 30 minutes a day, most days of the week.
