How to Lose Weight Quickly With Atkins

The Atkins Diet claims to be one of the most natural and easy ways to lose weight because it turns your body into a fat-burning machine. The diet encourages you to avoid carbohydrates and mainly eat protein and vegetables rich in fiber. Doing this forces your body to switch to burning fats instead of carbs. According to the Atkins website, you can lose up to 15 pounds in the first two weeks of the diet.

Step 1

Eat smaller portions. Eating fat does not make you fat. Eating too much fat does. Limit your intake and do not eat when you aren't hungry.

Step 2

Eat regularly and make sure you consume enough calories. Women should get between 1,500 and 1,800 calories, and men need between 1,800 and 2,200 calories, according to the Atkins website. Because you are trying to lose weight fast, get closer to 1,500 if you are a woman and 1,800 if you are a man.

Step 3

Limit carbs and eat enough protein and vegetables. Have between 4 and 6 oz. of protein with each meal. Get between 12 and 15g of carbohydrates through your vegetable intake each day.

Step 4

Combine the diet with exercise. To lose 1 lb., you must take in 3,500 calories less than you burn. Increase the amount of calories you burn by incorporating cardio activity into your plan.

Step 5

Stick with the plan. Follow what the diet tells you to do and don't give up. Atkins is meant to be a long-term solution, so do not stop following what the diet has taught you to do once you reach your goal weight.
