The Foundation for Spinal Cord Injury Prevention, Care and Cure reports falls from trampolines often result in crippling injury, including paralysis and/or death. MayoClinic.com states trampolines pose a high injury risk for children and adults. For this reason the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) claims trampolines should not be used at home. Follow the safety rules of the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and install a trampoline enclosure.
Step 1
Install the U-bolts provided with the trampoline's assembly hardware onto the legs of the trampoline. The "U" portion of the bolt sits against the leg and the threaded ends of the bolt face toward the center of the trampoline. Slide the U-bolt bracket onto the threaded ends of the U-bolt and loosely secure the bracket with locknuts.
Step 2
Lay the two parts of the enclosure support tubes on the ground, positioning the small holes pre-drilled in the tubes together at the center of the post. Slide the foam sleeve over the support tube and locate the small hole in the center of the tube through the foam. Tighten a self-tapping screw, provided with the trampoline's assembly hardware, into the small hole in the tube. Repeat this for the remaining enclosure support tubes.
Step 3
Insert a C-clip onto the leg of the trampoline between the two U-bolts. Slide the top U-bolt up the leg of the trampoline until it reaches the bottom of the socket that holds the trampoline to the leg. Position the bottom U-bolt two inches lower than the top U-bolt. With the plastic cap on the enclosure support tube positioned at the top, slide the support tube down through the U-bolts. Attach the support tube to the trampoline leg by tightening the locknuts on the bolts. Repeat this for the remaining enclosure support tubes.
Step 4
Assemble the six sections of the top enclosure support pole by pushing the pieces together. Assemble the remaining enclosure support poles in the same fashion.
Step 5
Lay the enclosure netting on the trampoline and thread the support poles into the top sleeve of the netting through the openings in the sleeve. At each opening, secure each end of the support poles together using a clip connector. This process creates the round shape of the enclosure. Hang the enclosure netting from the plastic caps at the top of the support tubes.
Step 6
"Sew" the bottom of the netting to the V-rings attached to the springs of the trampoline. Starting at the enclosure door, thread the cord through the bottom of the netting and the first V-ring. Tie a square knot to secure the end of the cord and began "sewing" through the bottom of the netting and the V-rings. Keep the cord tight and continue to "sew" the netting to the V-rings around the entire trampoline.
