Exfoliating with a facial scrub cleans surface dirt and oil, and smoothes the skin on your face and neck. Facial scrubs, which work on the surface of your skin, are different from exfoliating masks that remove dead skin cells from within skin pores. They are a gentler form of exfoliating you can use anywhere from daily to three or four times per week, depending on the strength of the product. In addition, commercial exfoliating facial scrubs usually include cleansing ingredients so you can eliminate a step in your beauty care routine when using them.
Step 1
Moisten your face and neck using warm water.
Step 2
Wash your face and neck using your normal skin cleanser if your exfoliating facial scrub does not contain cleansing ingredients.
Step 3
Squeeze a small amount of the exfoliating facial scrub onto your fingertips and massage into your skin. Use your fingertips, gentle pressure and a circular motion, rather than scrubbing, to work the facial scrub into your skin.
Step 4
Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat your face dry with a clean towel. Due to its grainy texture, it is very important to remove all traces of the facial scrub. Grains left on your face can get in your eyes, causing pain and eye irritation.
Tips and Warnings
- If you want to use an exfoliating facial scrub on a daily basis, look for products designed for sensitive skin.
