Hocking Hills is located in southeastern Ohio and is known for its scenic cliffs, gorges, rock shelters and waterfalls. This region is an ideal destination for a variety of outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, boating, fishing, biking, swimming and wildlife viewing. There are a number of camping options throughout the Hocking Hills region.
Region's Parks
There are many things to see and do in the parks located throughout Hocking Hills. The most popular of these parks is Old Man's Cave, which is well-known for its hiking trails and waterfall and gorge views. Other Hocking Hills parks are Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, Conckles Hollow, Cantwell Cliffs, Rock House, Clear Creek, Rock Bridge, Lake Logan, Lake Hope, Tar Hollow, Hocking State Forest and Wayne National Forest. Each area provides unique recreational and sightseeing opportunities.
Tent Camping
Tent campers will enjoy the variety of tent camping options in the Hocking Hills area. Top O' the Caves Campground offers primitive sites with some not-so-primitive campground amenities, such as an in-ground swimming pool, miniature golf course and a children's playground. If you don't have your own tent and camping accessories, you may want to check out Caveman Retreats, which will rent this equipment to you during your stay. Another tenting option is available at At Boulders Edge Tipi Retreat, where you can experience camping in one of the campground's tipis.
RV Camping
RV campers are also sure to find a Hocking Hills campground to meet their needs. Hocking River RV Park offers RV camping sites with a view of the river. Campground activities include swimming, hiking and tubing. Happy Hills Family Campground offers a wide array of activities including hiking, wagon rides, a children's playground, horseshoes, fishing, boating and shuffleboard.
Cabins
The majority of the Hocking Hills campgrounds offers cabins for guests to stay in. Horse enthusiasts may enjoy a stay at the Spotted Horse Ranch, which offers a cabin that can sleep six, as well as a ranch to keep your horse, or you could rent one of their horses. Larger groups may want to check out the Cabins at Camp Oty'Okwa, which has fully equipped cabins that can sleep up to 25 guests. There is also Ravenwood Castle and Medieval Village, which provides whimsical cabins in the shape of gypsy wagons, as well as medieval-style cottages.
State Parks
State park camping is abundant throughout the Hocking Hills Region. Many parks offer activities, including hiking, fishing and water activities.The types of camping varies between each state park, but most allow for tent camping, and you can also find RV camping at campgrounds, such as Lake Hope State Park and Hocking Hills State Park. Cabin rentals are also available at Hocking Hills State Park, Lake Hope State Park and Tar Hollow State Park.
