Britax car seats have been the best-selling brand in Europe and the United States. Britax car seats are available for newborns, toddlers and children up to 100 pounds. Inevitably, your child is going to dirty his car seat regularly. This occurs when he spits up, his diaper explodes or he makes a mess with a snack or drink. Cleaning a Britax car seat is important for keeping it in good condition. Follow these simple steps to keep your child's Britax car seat clean.
How to Clean a Britax Car Seat
Step 1
Remove the Britax car seat. Take your child's car seat out of your vehicle because it will be easier to clean and will provide the opportunity to clean all the hard to reach places.
Step 2
Vacuum the Britax car seat. Shake the car seat to get rid of any food crumbs that are stuck inside it. Place the car seat on the floor and use your vacuum cleaner hose to vacuum inside the strap niches and down in the crevices of the cover to get rid of crumbs, fuzz and dust.
Step 3
Remove the Britax car seat cover and straps and wash them. Some covers can be washed in the washing machine and some require hand washing. Use a mild detergent for either method to produce less wear to the fabric of the cover. If you hand wash your Britax car seat cover, you can use a bucket of warm water and one rag to clean, then another rag to wash off the soap. A toothbrush comes in handy for scrubbing tough spots and for cleaning in between the crevices of the car seat and the straps. You can also wash the seat cover outside and use the hose to rinse out the soap and blast off debris.
Step 4
Dry the Britax car seat cover and straps. The best way to do this is to air dry them on the clothesline or an indoor drying rack so they don't shrink in the dryer or become damaged due to the heat.
Step 5
Put the Britax car seat back together. Replace the cover and straps according to Britax instructions and reinstall in the car.
