Things to Do on New Year's Eve in Las Vegas

New Year's Eve celebrations are often about lots of lights and fireworks, making the holiday one of the busiest times of the year for Las Vegas restaurants, hotels and casinos. Tourists have many options for New Year's entertainment, including nightclubs, shows, casinos and restaurants. There are New Year's Eve entertainment options for even for the most active tourists. Because New Year's is a busy time of year, book your hotel well in advance or stay farther away from the strip.

Las Vegas Block Party

During the New Year's celebrations, Las Vegas officials block off the strip to traffic to allow for various block parties. One of these parties, on Fremont Street, offers dancing, food, drinks and performances from bands such as the Doobie Brothers or the Bangles. Street parties have entrance fees, but they include admission to plenty of bars, clubs and lounges along a five-block strip.

Las Vegas Dance Clubs

Celebrate by dancing through the new year at one of several dance clubs in Las Vegas. At 25,000 square feet, Rain is one of the largest dance clubs in Las Vegas. It is located on the ground floor of the Palms towers. The club features special effects on the dance floor including a rain border around the dance floor and fire erupting from the chandeliers. If you like to host a more intimate New Years Eve celebration, Rain provides booths and private areas for smaller parties. The Ghost Bar is another bar at the Palms tower that provides indoor and outdoor dancing. Located on the 55th floor, the Ghost Bar has a clear Plexiglas balcony that brave guests can dance on.

Las Vegas Vintage Dance Club

There are several vintage dance clubs in Las Vegas that offer dancers the opportunity to dance to music from the 1950s, '60s, '70s and '80s. Studio 54 is one of these high-energy clubs that offer vintage music and vintage decoration. Studio 54 specializes in '70s music and dancing. The vintage dance club is 22,000 square feet and provides VIP room rentals for up to 400 of your guests.

Las Vegas Celebrity Nightclubs

Visit one of Las Vegas' many nightclubs, which might just feature celebrity appearances. Pure nightclub opens at 10 p.m. and has been known to be visited by A-list celebrities such as Paris Hilton. Pure is decorated with white furniture, curtains and tables. Its location will also give a good view of the New Year's fireworks. The Lax is a two-story nightclub located inside the Luxor. The nightclub has celebrity investors such as Christina Aguilera and DJ AM. The Lax nightclub is another place to see celebrities in Las Vegas.

Weightlessness in Las Vegas

Celebrate New Year's thousands of feet above the ground by experiencing weightlessness. Zero G is a Las Vegas company that provides passengers with the opportunity to experience weightlessness. You ride in the fuselage of a Boeing 727 that has been completely stripped. After takeoff, the plane makes a variety of maneuvers that give you a sense of weightlessness.
