NordicTrack Cross Country Ski Machine Monitor Instructions

NordicTrack produces a cross-country ski machine known as the Classic Pro, intended for use in the home. A pair of skis attached to a variable resistance system provides a workout designed to burn calories, tone muscles and improve cardiovascular health. The device also features a monitor unit that displays relevant workout information, such as the speed at which you are moving and how many calories you have burned. A pulse attachment allows the monitor to track your heart rate as well.

Installation

Step 1

Turn the monitor unit over and examine the back panel. Locate the battery compartment door and the attached plastic tab. Push the tab toward the door, then lift the tab upward. Remove the battery compartment door.

Step 2

Position two "AA" batteries over the battery bay, with the negative ends of the batteries next to the springs. Push the batteries into the bay until they are secure. Replace the battery cover, then push down on the tab until the cover is secure.

Step 3

Fit the monitor unit over the ski machine's upright. Position the unit where desired. Push the unit onto the upright. Locate the jacks on the bottom edge of the monitor. Plug the pulse monitor cable into the right jack, then plug the console wire into the left jack. Plug the remaining end of the console wire into the jack located on the rear of the upright.

Operation

Step 1

Mount the ski machine and press the console's "reset" button. Hold your left ear lobe between your thumb and forefinger.

Step 2

Rub your ear lobe several times, then clip the monitor onto the bottom of the lobe. Use the clothing clip to secure the monitor cable to your collar. Examine the monitor to determine whether the device is able to accurately read your pulse. If necessary, remove and reposition the pulse monitor until you are able to get a proper reading.

Step 3

Press the "reset" button and begin your workout. Review the information in the pulse, duration, speed, calories burned and distance traveled sections of the display. Continue your workout until you have reached your goals, then step off of the machine. Disconnect the pulse monitor and wait several minutes for the monitor to automatically deactivate.

Tips and Warnings

  • For best results, remain standing still while you clip the pulse sensor onto your left ear lobe; avoid using the right ear lobe, as the results may prove inaccurate.
  • The pulse monitor is only intended for use as a fitness aid and not as a medical device.
