While it is impossible to spot reduce, or to lose weight from a specific spot in your body, it is possible to lose weight all over and focus your toning on a specific area. To lose belly fat quickly, you must be dedicated to cardio and resistance training as well as a healthy diet.
Step 1
Start a cardio program. To lose weight, you must burn more calories than you gain. Since you want to lose weight quickly, you should focus on the maximum amount of weight you can lose healthily in a week, which is 2 pounds. To lose 2 pounds, you must burn 7,000 calories more than you eat, or 1,000 calories a day. Part of this 1,000 calorie deficit can come from exercise. Find an activity that raises your heart rate and you enjoy doing.
Step 2
Tone your stomach. While you can't specifically burn calories from your stomach area, you can focus toning on your stomach area. Your abs have three parts: upper, lower and obliques. To optimize the toning chose an exercise that works each of these. For example, do regular crunches to work upper abs, reverse crunches to work lower abs and oblique crunches to work your obliques.
Step 3
Eat healthy. Avoid trans-fat and alcohol. Trans-fat converts more fat into belly fat because it is man-made and the body doesn't know how to metabolize it. Alcohol hurts the body's ability to burn fat, particularly in your midsection. Eat monounsaturated fats because they metabolize fat around your belly. In general, cut your portion sizes and eat several small meals a day instead of three large meals. This keeps your metabolism working continuously and helps you to avoid overeating.
