Prepare these natural exfoliators to effectively remove dead skin cells and leave your skin smooth and glowing. According to "Organic Body Care Recipes," salt will dry skin, close pores and heal pimples. Sugar is gentler, non-drying and has glycolic acids, which act as chemical exfoliants. Olive or almond oil will soften, moisturize and nourish the skin. The essential oil of your choice adds special medicinal benefits. Rosemary, peppermint, and citrus essential oils are enlivening and antifungal. Tea tree oil provides deep cleaning. Galbanum aids skin regneration. Ylang ylang, neroli and jasmine are exotic and calming, according to "Aromatherapy Guide to Essential Oils."
Step 1
Combine salt or sugar with olive or almond oil in a bowl.
Step 2
Blend the mixture with a wire whisk or fork until ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Step 3
Gradually add the essential oil, stirring the mixture after each drop.
Step 4
Transfer the blended preparation to your jar.
Step 5
Rinse your skin and massage about 1/3 cup of your scrub prepartion into the skin. Rinse with cool water. Store your sugar or salt scrub in a wide mouth jar at room temperature for up to 12 months.
