Step Stretch from ProStretch is marketed as a device used to stretch the lower body while relieving heel pain, tendinitis discomfort, ankle strain, arch pain and discomfort caused by plantar fasciitis. It is sold through As Seen on TV stores as well as sports equipment retailers. Use the Step Stretch before and after exercising to prevent injury. The Step Stretch is sold as a single unit or as a bilateral unit that allows you to stretch both legs simultaneously.
Calves
Step 1
Place both hands on a wall and put Step Stretch an arm's length away from the wall.
Step 2
Put your foot on top of the Step Stretch with the heel inside of the heel cup. Stand up straight and lift your other foot to put your body weight onto the Step Stretch.
Step 3
Lean your body slightly forward. Keep your shoulders, hips and ankles in a straight line while performing this stretch.
Step 4
Pivot your foot backward. You should feel a stretch in your calf muscle. Hold this pose for 30 seconds. Switch feet and repeat the process.
Achilles Tendon
Step 1
Position both hands on the wall with your body leaned forward.
Step 2
Rock the heel of your foot on the Step Stretch backwards. Place your other foot behind you with the toes to the floor and heel lifted.
Step 3
Bend your knee on the Step Stretch to a 5- to 10-degree angle. Hold this position for 30 seconds and repeat the move for the opposite foot.
Hamstrings
Step 1
Move into a lunge position. One foot remains on the Step Stretch while you take a large step backwards with the other foot.
Step 2
Bend the knee and push the heel on the Step Stretch to the floor. Extend your chest out to stretch the hamstrings.
Step 3
Leave your hands on your hips. Do 30 second intervals for each foot.
Tips and Warnings
