New York City is the city that never sleeps and buzzes with excitement both day and night. Daytime is an ideal time to take advantage of the sun with activities such as cycling, kayaking, running and visiting cultural sights. The city is so full of life that you can fill up your days from sunup to sundown with fun and vigorous activities.
Cycling
Take advantage of the daylight by hitting the hundreds of miles of cycling paths that wind through the Big Apple. You can even do some mountain biking in the middle of the city at Highbridge and Cunningham Parks, which has dirt paths with bumps and small jumps. Several local businesses hire out bikes and helmets. Many paths are shared with horses, walkers and wheelchairs, so riding carefully is a must.
Running and Jogging
Daytime is a great time to do run, jog or walk miles of paths in Central Park as it is closed off to traffic from midmorning until midafternoon. Run the entire six-mile Central Park loop and pass by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Great Lawn and the Onassis Reservoir. Alternatively, run or jog the 1.5-mile Reservoir Loop or 2.5-mile Bridle Path Loop, or create your own route.
