Commercial hair conditioners are full of complicated artificial ingredients that often leave the hair feeling limp and lifeless. A homemade conditioner made of natural ingredients can be a better choice, leaving the hair feeling smooth, shiny, and healthier than ever. Your hair will love a conditioner made of hair-strengthening, protein-rich eggs, which will leave your hair less prone to breakage and split ends, says Home Remedies.

Step 1

Place 1 egg yolk in a small mixing bowl and whip with an electric mixer until the egg is thick and bright yellow in color.

Step 2

Add 3/4 cup lukewarm water and 1/2 tsp. olive oil. Stir in 5 to 6 drops of the essential oil of your choice. Lavender, rose and chamomile essential oils are beneficial for any hair type. Tea tree, sage or rosemary essential oil will treat dandruff and itchy scalp. Sandalwood has a pleasant, masculine smell and will sooth a dry scalp. Citrus essential oils are good for oily hair. Peppermint will invigorate the scalp.

Step 3

Wash your hair with your favorite shampoo, and then massage the egg conditioner through your wet hair. Be sure your hair is completely saturated from the scalp to the tips. Allow the conditioner to remain in your hair for at least five to 10 minutes, and then rinse the egg conditioner from your hair using lukewarm water.

Tips and Warnings

  • Mix up only enough conditioner for one treatment, as raw eggs will spoil quickly.
