Thermo-Lite Bivvy Sack Review

Adventure Medical Kits produces the S.O.L. Thermal Bivvy, which was formerly known as the Thermo-Lite 2.0 bivvy sack. This is an updated version of the original Thermo-Lite. You can also apply the term bivvy sack to a tiny one-person tent, but in this case, the Thermal Bivvy is a super-lightweight sleeping bag.

Specs

The Thermo-Lite Bivvy/S.O.L. Thermal Bivvy is 36 inches wide by 84 inches long when fully unpacked. It weighs 6.9 oz. and is rated for use as a sleeping bag in temperatures around 50 degrees Fahrenheit. When packed into its stuff sack, the Thermal Bivvy measures about 3.75 inches by 6 inches.

Features

The Thermal Bivvy is waterproof and windproof. According to the manufacturer, it reflects up to 80 percent of your radiated body heat. The Thermal Bivvy has hook-and-loop closures at the head opening, and a hook-and-loop vent at your feet.

Uses

Although the Thermal Bivvy can be used as a lightweight sleeping bag in mild climates, it's also marketed as an emergency shelter/survival tool to replace the thermal blanket some hikers and climbers carry.
