Keloids are scars which have grown larger than the original wound and continue to grow over many years. They may be painful, itch and even reduce mobility. The treatment of keloid scars depends on their location and severity of discomfort they cause. While there are home remedies available, in some cases physicians will need to be involved in their removal. Additionally, over-the-counter products and traditional Chinese medicine may be beneficial.
Lavender Oil
Apply Lavender oil to the keloid several times a day. It has skin-cell-rejuvenating properties which can help with all forms of scarring.
Baking Soda Paste
Rub a paste of one part baking soda and one part 3 percent hydrogen peroxide directly on the keloid--reapply as necessary.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apply apple cider vinegar on the keloid and let dry, reapplying every half hour for four hours. If you find pure apple cider vinegar is too irritating, dilute it with water.
Aspirin Paste
Work in a paste of three crushed aspirin and water with a Q-tip and let the mixture dry and then wash it off by rubbing gently under water. The paste will take 15 to 30 minutes to dry completely and can be applied once daily until you notice improvement.
