Six-pack abs seem like something that only super models have, but anyone can get them. Working on abdominal strength with specific exercises to target-train the core will help to develop a flat stomach. However, doing aerobic training to burn off the fat covering your abs is the most effective way to reveal your new six pack abs fast. Sticking to a healthy meal plan will also speed up your results.
Step 1
Burn off the layer of fat covering your six pack. It is there, just hidden somewhere. Try high-intensity interval training to shed fat faster. According to the American Council of Exercise, interval training helps boost your calorie-burning potential. Most aerobic exercises can be used in an interval-training workout. Do two minutes of moderate work followed by one minute of high intensity effort. For example, walk for two minutes then sprint for one minute. Repeat this kind of training for 30 minutes or longer for a greater caloric burn.
Step 2
Train your abdominals. Working your entire core with a variety of exercises will help reveal a flatter tummy faster. Switching up your routine is important so that you are always challenging your core. Try a plank exercise. Hold yourself up in a push-up position, engaging your abdominals. Aim to hold this position for 30 seconds, and as you gain strength, hold it longer. Engage your abs with bicycle twists. Begin on your back and reach your right elbow to your left knee, then switch twisting your left elbow to your right knee. Try 12 repetitions and three sets. Also try a standard crunch lying on the floor with your hands behind your head, lifting your shoulder blades off the floor. Complete three sets of 12 until you build more strength.
Step 3
Watch your diet by eating smaller portion sizes and choosing healthy foods--such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins-- to provide enough fuel to exercise effectively and promote weight loss. The Mayo Clinic also suggests eating whole grains to help you feel full longer because they are a good source of fiber. Watching your portion sizes will also help to lose weight and reveal a slimmer waist. Eating smaller portions will also allow you to splurge on your diet a bit.
