While eyebrow hair loss is fairly uncommon, it can occur because of over-plucking or allergic reaction to beauty products. However, some natural oils can spur eyebrow growth, whether your concern is hair loss or making your eyebrows fuller and thicker looking. It should be noted, however, that these remedies have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, so it is important that you talk with your doctor before starting any new treatment.
Rosehip Seed Oil and Coconut Oil
According to Jennie Harding, author of "The Essential Oils Handbook: All the Oils You Will Ever Need for Health, Vitality and Well-Being," a mixture of rosehip seed essential oil and coconut oil can be applied to the eyebrows to make them grow fuller and thicker. To make this mixture, combine ½ teaspoon rosehip seed oil and 3 tablespoons coconut oil in a small, clean glass bottle with a tight-fitting lid and shake it to combine the ingredients. Dip a cotton swab into the mixture and gently brush the wet cotton on the eyebrows. Leave the mixture on the eyebrows for 20 minutes before rinsing with cool, clean water. There is no need to wash with soap unless the mixture is irritating to your skin. This treatment can be used once per day, and unused portions can be stored in a dark, dry place for one month.
Carrot Root Essential Oil, Sea Buckthorn Essential Oil and Sesame Oil
According to Valerie Ann Worwood, author of "The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy," a mixture of carrot root essential oil, sea buckthorn essential oil and sesame oil can be used to make your eyebrows grow. To use this remedy, combine ½ tsp. carrot root essential oil, ½ tsp. sea buckthorn essential oil and 4 tbsp. sesame oil in a small container and shake or stir to combine. With a clean fingertip, gently massage a small amount of the mixture onto the eyebrows and leave it on for 30 minutes or until nearly dry. Rinse the area with cool water and pat dry with a clean towel. There is no need to use soap unless the mixture bothers your skin. Unused portions of this mixture can be stored in a cool, dark and dry place for 30 days if necessary.
Rosemary Verbenone Essential Oil and Jojoba Oil
According to Colleen Kaye Dodt, author of "The Essential Oils Book: Creating Personal Blends for Mind & Body," a mixture of rosemary verbenone essential oil and jojoba oil can be used as a topical treatment to enhance eyebrow growth. To make this mixture, combine 1 part rosemary verbenone essential oil with 6 parts jojoba oil in a small container and shake or stir to combine. Gently massage a small amount of the mixture onto the eyelids and leave it on for 6 to 8 hours or overnight. Wash your face with a gentle moisturizer in the morning to remove the mixture. This treatment can be repeated daily as long as it doesn't cause any irritation or redness. Unused portions of the mixture can be kept in a cool, dark place for up to two months if necessary.
