Pigmentation on the skin is a fairly common problem. While there are medical treatments to help get your even skin tone back, these are often expensive and somewhat uncomfortable for the patient. However, there are some natural remedies that can be used to help treat pigmentation. These remedies have not been tested by the Food and Drug Administration however, so talk with your doctor or dermatologist before starting any of these treatments.

Tea Tree Oil and Olive Oil

According to Julie Gabriel, author of "The Green Beauty Guide: Your Essential Resource to Organic and Natural Skin Care, Hair Care, Makeup, and Fragrances," a mixture of tea tree oil and olive oil can be applied to the skin as a treatment for pigmentation on the skin and face. To make and use this mixture, combine 1 tbsp. tea tree oil with 2 tbsp. olive oil in a small container and shake or stir to combine. Gently massage a small amount of the mixture onto the affected area and leave it on until it dries. There is no need to rinse the skin or wash with soap unless it causes irritation or extreme redness. Unused portions of this mixture can be kept in a cool, dark place for up to one month.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil and Jojoba Oil

According to Ann Worwood, author of "The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy," a mixture of eucalyptus essential oil and jojoba oil can be used to help get rid of pigmentation and dark spots on the face. Combine ½ tsp. eucalyptus essential oil with 4 tsp. jojoba oil in a small bottle or container and shake to combine. Gently massage a small amount of the mixture onto the affected area and leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing with clean water and washing with a mild cleanser. This treatment can be repeated daily unless it bothers your skin, and unused portions of the mixture can be stored in a dark, dry place for 30 days.

Honey and Apple Cider Vinegar

According to Jethro Kloss, author of "Back To Eden: The Classic Guide to Herbal Medicine, Natural Foods, and Home Remedies since 1939," a mixture of honey and apple cider vinegar can be used as a topical treatment for pigmentation and skin color abnormalities. Combine 1 tbsp. honey and ½ tbsp. apple cider vinegar in a small bowl and whisk to combine. Massage a thick layer of the mixture onto the affected area and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse the skin with cool water and wash with a mild cleanser to remove the sugar from the skin. This treatment can be repeated daily as long it does not bother your skin, and unused portions can be kept in the refrigerator for five days.
