According to the Weight Control Information Network sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, overweight teens are at an increased risk of developing serious diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes. The fastest and easiest way to lose weight is to make immediate changes to your eating habits and exercise routine. Fasting and fad diets are not effective ways for a teen girl to lose weight quickly.
Step 1
Limit the amount of fat that you are eating in your diet. The Weight Control Information Network recommends that only 25 percent of your total daily calories come from fat. Avoid foods high in saturated fat, such as full-fat dairy products, fatty cuts of meat and fried foods. Instead, fat should come from healthier sources, such as fish, nuts, soybean oil and olive oil.
Step 2
Drink mostly water. If you want to drop the pounds quickly, avoid indulging in high-calorie sodas and fruit juices. Switch these drinks with water to cut out a substantial amount of calories from your daily intake.
Step 3
Stop emotional eating. The Teens Health website from the Nemours Foundation states that you should only eat when you are hungry. Avoid eating when you are upset or bored if you want to lose weight.
Step 4
Reach for low-calorie snacks. Steer clear of snack foods that will wreak havoc on your diet, including chips, candy, cookies and crackers. Instead, munch on raw veggies or pieces of fruit. Have a minimum of five servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
Step 5
Limit screen time to less than two hours per day. This includes television, video games and the computer. The Weight Control Information Network states that girls who watched more than this amount had more body fat than girls who limited screen time.
Step 6
Exercise for 60 minutes per day. If you want to lose weight quickly and easily, add more exercise into your day-to-day activities. Take your bike to school, walk to your friend's house and play a game of basketball in your driveway.
