Tom Emanski, founder of "Tom Emanski's Baseball Videos," says that baseball drills are designed as building blocks to enhance fundamentals, technique and performance. You can customize drills to match the individual needs of your team and to mimic every aspect of the baseball game, from defense to offense. The Internet can be an important resource for finding baseball drills.

Infield Reaction Drills

Infielders need to have quickness and agility in order to react to ground balls. The website WebBall has several online baseball drills designed for indoor practice sessions. Have each player stand in between two bases spaced about 90 feet apart. Toss the ball to the right or left, making the player react quickly in order to scoop up the ground ball. Vary each throw to prevent the player from guessing the direction of the throw and to improve the reaction in every direction.

For a second infield drill, have players find a partner and stand about 10 to 15 feet apart. Have the partners alternate throwing grounders to each side, working on forehands and backhands. Focus on proper mechanics such as staying low, having a soft upper-body and using two hands to field the ball. Gradually increase the distance of the ground balls to each side.

Hitting Drills

Baseball games can be won or lost at the plate. To effectively and consistently score runs, your team must have the ability to put the baseball in play. The website My-Youth-Baseball has a "K.I.S.S."--Keep It Simple Stupid--method for hitting drills. The K.I.S.S. method prevents the player from overthinking the hitting process and allows him to focus on the mechanics. One of the recommended online baseball drills is hitting off a tee. This drill is important for experienced players as well as beginners.

The fence drill teaches the hitter how to keep his hands inside the ball during the swing. Have each player stand facing a fence, and put the handle of the bat at his waist to determine the distance away from the fence. Have him move into his normal batting stance and swing the bat without letting the bat hit the fence.

Outfield Drills

Outfielders have several defensive responsibilities, including fielding fly balls off the outfield fence, hitting the cutoff man after a base hit and catching the ball on the run. Online baseball drills from ETeamz teach the outfielder how to effectively field his position. The "Monkey in the Middle" drill teaches outfielders how to hit the cutoff man by lining two infielders in the middle of two outfielders. Keep one ball continuously moving from outfielder to infielder, back to the outfielder and returning back to the infielder.

A second online baseball drill for outfielders has players stand about 10 to 15 feet apart. Each player alternates throwing fly balls with the partner working on fundamentals---catching the ball with both hands, preparing for a throw before the catch and transitioning into a crow hop after the catch.
