Utah is an outdoor lover's playground, with plenty of activities and a backdrop of stunning scenery. Campers in Utah will be able to be closer to nature and get a head start on the day's exercise. Single people camping in Utah shouldn't have any problem camping by themselves if they choose, as long as they take safety precautions. Alternatively, they can join group camping trips in the state to meet other singles.

Group Singles Camping

Active, outdoor-minded singles will find no shortage of things to do in Utah. Hiking, biking, horseback riding and boating are just some of the activities they can do in groups, which also offers the opportunity to meet other singles.

Singles Travel Service is one organization that runs Utah camping trips that feature swimming, kayaking and visits to hot springs. Single RV campers can join groups such as Loners on Wheels, which has chapters in all 50 states, including Utah.

Solo Camping Safety

Some single campers would prefer to camp alone in Utah. This can be easier, as you can hike, mountain bike, raft, horseback ride or rock climb as much as you want without worrying about scheduled activities or others' ability levels.

Still, campers might want to check in at campground message boards in the morning to see if any other solo campers are hiking or biking the same routes, as it is safer to travel with one or more other people.

Single campers who are heading out on the trail alone should alert rangers or other authorities about their intended routes so their absence will be noticed if something happens.

Heat stroke can be a problem in the desert, as can sudden storms. Rattlesnakes live in Utah, but usually won't bite unless provoked or threatened.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon National Park is one choice for active singles in Utah. Hiking is the main outdoor activity here, and single campers can go alone during the day, or join one of the ranger-led hikes.

At night, when there is a full moon, group hikes that take advantage of the light also are available. Camping sites for groups of singles traveling together are offered in North and Sunset campgrounds.

Canyonlands National Park

Active campers will have no shortage of things to do in Canyonlands National Park. Guided tours are a good way for single campers to learn about the environment and meet other visitors. Hiking, biking and boating are other activities the park offers, with stargazing at night.

There are group campsites available for groups of singles staying together, as well as individual campsites for single travelers.

Arches National Park

Arches National Park is another park that offers group camping for singles traveling together, as well as individual sites for singles camping alone. Campers here will enjoy biking, hiking and rock climbing.

Ranger-led hikes are offered daily during the warm weather and offer a good chance for single travelers to mingle. However, some tours in Arches National Park can be strenuous, so single campers should know their limits before signing up for one.
