Thin lines and flakes can make your lips look older and thinner than they really are, especially when the temperature is extreme or you're not drinking enough water. Using a lip scrub can rub away flakes and parched cells, revealing healthier, hydrated skin below. While you can purchase lip-exfoliating scrubs at drugstores and department stores, it's easy to whip up your own lip scrub with ingredients from your kitchen.
Combine 1/2 tablespoon olive oil and 1/4 teaspoon brown sugar in a bowl or cup, stirring until the mixture forms a thick paste.
Add two or three drops of essential oil, such as peppermint or lavender oil, to the sugar mixture if you choose. Stir to combine.
Transfer the sugar scrub to a small container with a lid. It will keep at room temperature for up to one month.
