Exercise charts provide a way to track your physical activity. Some fitness routines are not challenging enough or are very sporadic. An exercise chart will assure that exercise is being done and done accurately. It will track the number of reps and weights that are being used, as well as the time that is being put into your physical activity. Without an exercise chart you may lose track of your goal and the progression of improvement concerning your physical health.
Creating an Exercise Chart
Step 1
Purchase a journal or note pad, preferably one this is gridded.
Step 2
Write down the days of the week for each page of the journal. By recording the days, you will be able to track when you did and did not exercise.
Step 3
Write down columns for strength training and cardiovascular training for each day. Allow the column for strength training to be larger than the cardio column, as strength training is the exercise that will lead to weight loss and physical health improvement.
Step 4
Divide the strength training column into upper body and lower body. For each section, write down the exercise you are performing. From lunges and squats, to lifts and push-ups, the strength training exercises are endless.
Step 5
Write down the number of reps you are doing next to each exercise. If the exercise is being done with weights, then note the number of pounds you are using.
Step 6
Record your body weight after every seven days to track your progress.
Step 7
Try to track your heart rate during every cardiovascular training session to assure that you are in a fat burning zone. Record your starting heart rate, peak heart rate, and ending heart rate.
Tips and Warnings
- Research exercises and find a routine that you will not only be able to do consistently, but also add to and improve. While using your own body weight is a great system for training, incorporating hand weights and other resistance tools will further enhance your regimen. It is also important to note the number of calories being burned everyday.
- Consult a physician before starting any exercise regimen. Remember to stretch before and after every workout to prevent strains and other injuries.
