Powerwise is a brand name for chargers supplied with E-Z-Go golf carts. Most of the carts produced by E-Z-Go come with these chargers as part of the standard features. Electric golf carts run entirely on a battery system. After a long day on the course, these carts will need to be stored and connected to the chargers. The process is easy and will ensure that the cart is fully powered for the next use.
Step 1
Inspect the outside of the battery for cracks. Ensure the connections are clean and free of debris. Look for leaking fluid or damage to the battery surface. Check the water level of the battery before charging.
Step 2
Plug the charger into a wall receptacle or in the cart receptacle. Attaching the charger to the receptacle and battery varies based on cart design and charger model. Powerwise chargers plug into a charger receptacle that resembles a computer USB plug. The charging will begin automatically after plug in.
Step 3
Watch the LED lights. Many models of Powerwise chargers have LED displays that indicate the health of the unit and the battery. A short, green blinking light indicates that the battery is less than 80 percent charged. A long, green flash means the battery is more than 80 percent full. Solid green on the LED display is a fully charged battery and red is a problem that needs attention.
Step 4
Check the amps reading on the ammeter to ensure it is at 21 amps or the recommended amount for your model. Units without an LED display will have an ammeter that indicates the amps of the battery. A charger that does not present any amp reading is faulty.
