A boxing or punching bag provides a fun, intense cardio workout you can do at home. Hang a bag in your garage or spare room. You can get in a quick workout as well as some stress relief anytime. You will need a few tools and some space to hang your bag. Since the bag needs to swing, you will need to have an open area to hang it in. Use the proper hanging tools to make sure your bag is secure and safe.
Step 1
Consider where you are going to hang the bag. You need at least a few feet of open space around the bag on all sides. The beam you hang the bag from must be sturdy.
Step 2
Locate a stud in the ceiling using a stud finder. Drill a hole in the stud where you will hang the bag. Use a drill bit slightly smaller than the diameter of the eye bolt thread.
Step 3
Insert the eye bolt into the drill hole. Twist the eye bolt by hand initially. Then use a screwdriver as leverage to twist the eye bolt securely into the stud. You can also use pliers to turn the eye bolt.
Step 4
Hang a S-hook from the eye bolt.
Step 5
Place the boxing bag on a chair. The chair must sit higher than the bag will hang. Connect the chains from the bag to the S-hook. Pull the chair away. Your boxing bag is now ready to use.
