Rocket fishing rods are special rods designed to make the process of casting a fishing hook into the water easier and more entertaining. With a standard fishing rod, the user flicks the rod and allows momentum to carry the hook the water. On a Rocket fishing rod, the hook fits inside a special capsule that doubles as a bobble; the user loads the capsule into the rod and then launches it towards the target area.
Step 1
Open the cover located on top of the fishing rod above the handle. Remove the cover and set it aside. Position the reel over the opening in the rod such that the winch is aligned with the notch on the side of the rod. Insert the reel into the rod. Push down on the locking latch, located next to the reel crank.
Step 2
Fit a sinker near the end of the fishing line, then use a pair of pliers to secure the sinker in place. Grip the handle located underneath the rod near the front end. Pull the handle backwards until it locks into place.
Step 3
Insert the weighted end of the fishing line into the rod. Tilt the rod and turn the winch counterclockwise until the sinker comes out the opposite end. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the sinker free of the fishing line. Replace the cover on the fishing rod.
Step 4
Pass the end of the line through the opening in the top of the safety bobber. Replace the sinker near the end of the fishing line and use the pliers to secure it as before. Tie a fishing hook onto the end of the line.
Step 5
Attach your bait to the fishing hook. Retract the fishing line through the top of the bobber until the open end of the bobber is able to close completely. Locate the sliding stop attached to the fishing line. Slide the stop to set the depth you wish the hook to reach.
Step 6
Turn the crank on the reel clockwise until the bobber appears in the window on the side of the rod. Aim the rod towards the water. Push the safety button, located on the left side of the rod, opposite the reel crank. Push down on top of the cover to fire the bobber into the water.
Step 7
Place your thumb on the wheel protruding from the top of the cover. Turn the wheel to the left or right to increase or decrease the amount of drag when you turn the crank. When you feel a tug on the fishing line, turn the crank clockwise to retrieve your fishing hook.
